FULL NETWORK MANAGEMENT

We have full visibility and control of the performance of our network. In addition our support team has an excellent understanding of the latest network technologies; so much so that we have helped several of our major suppliers diagnose and fix problems that they weren’t even aware existed. This is particularly important as the types of transfers this industry uses tests any network to the limit.

NETWORK SECURITY

The security aspects of digital data transfers are of increasing concern to our industry. The Sohonet network is inherently secure, with the addition of many layers of security, monitoring, diagnostics and intrusion detection systems.

ADVICE ON TRANSFERS

Many people are surprised that fast connections rarely operate natively at their advertised speed. For example, without help from Sohonet (or additional hardware), a 100Mbit/s connection in LA is only likely to achieve transfers to London of 2-3Mbit/s. Our approach is bespoke, and we work with our clients to explain the issues and help resolve them. Using this approach we routinely get transfers of 90-100Mbit/s around the globe with no additional hardware costs.

CONSULTANCY

As part of our service, we expect our clients to call us for advice on all aspects of their connectivity. We maintain a very close relationship with hardware suppliers to the media industries, and make it our business to know the connectivity limitations and advantages of typical applications. Whether it's moving 4K DPX files, Digi-beta material, the contents of an Avid Bin, or a simple ftp transfer, we talk the same language and can advise and assist.

In addition, the Sohonet Community has a wealth of advice on the best way to do FTP, Video Conferencing, remote attend, etc.

FIREWALLS

Firewalls are a vital part of any network and Sohonet insist on a well maintained Hardware Firewall for every client connection. Although you can provide your own Firewall, we recommend our professional Managed Firewall service, which includes supply of the hardware, ongoing maintenance and configuration. In addition, you are assured of our expert impartial advice, covering things such as security best practice, network topology and any other aspects relating to configuration.

INTERNET ACCESS

Sohonet also provides a full range of ISP Services, some of which are optional and carry an additional charge. However, as standard we provide new DNS records and allow for sending and receiving email through other email providers or your own mail servers. Additionally, we can provide you with high quality public Internet access through your Sohonet connection, including domain management and provision of POP email accounts amongst other optional services.

SOHONET FREEWAY

Over the past few years the Sohonet Community has expanded rapidly in the UK and overseas, and our international network is now in a position to rival many of the major carriers. We have invested heavily in our network to enable us to make spare capacity available on a shared basis. Consequently, all of our clients in Los Angeles and London are now able to transfer data back and forth between each city, via Sohonet.

Access to this service now forms part of the standard Sohonet service package, and there are no setup, transfer or data charges.
