Sohonet Launches "FREEWAY" Service: Free International Bandwidth From L.A. to London For All Users
New Shared Service Gives Sohonet Clients Immediate Expanded Bandwidth
Sohonet, the first and largest high bandwidth connector for the global entertainment industry, is launching "Sohonet Freeway" a unique new benefit to further enhance their leading service to the international film and television production industry.
The Sohonet international network always has ample spare capacity in reserve that can be made available instantly for time critical transfers. The "Freeway" service provides access on a shared basis to some of this spare bandwidth on the Sohonet system for all clients in London and Los Angeles. This new service will allow extra bandwidth to Sohonet clients for occasional project work, project pitching and trial usage.
The Freeway service does not impact the Sohonet "halo" of assured bandwidth, which is always available on a guaranteed basis for instant use in case of transfers for urgent project work.

There is an ever increasing need within the production industry to share resources and collaborate internationally – both within and between companies. Sohonet has responded to this need and invested heavily to make some of its very substantial spare international capacity available on a shared basis to ALL Sohonet clients in London and Los Angeles. As this is a shared service transfer speeds are not guaranteed and will vary depending on how many clients are using the Freeway service at any given point in time.
Effective immediately, all Sohonet clients in Los Angeles and London will be able to use this new service to transfer data via Sohonet back and forth between each city – providing true global connectivity. Access to this service now forms part of the standard Sohonet service package and Sohonet will also be rolling out this service to other international destinations as client networks expand in these regions.
